The VOC and DYP announce new joint YP group launch

The Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and Denver Young Professionals are excited to announce the creation of a new group, The VOC YP, a young professionals group that will be co-managed by the two organization with a mission to get young professionals creating their own VOC days to work on trails, build new ones, and do behind the scene support.

The Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado has been around for 28 years, it’s most well known project is the new trail that heads out to Hanging Lake near Glenwood Springs off I-70. However there have been 100s of projects the VOC has been responsible for since it’s inception.

We know how active our YP’s are in the outdoors. It’s a big reason many stay in Colorado, so we’re excited to help them get out there and leave a legacy behind. Something that will still be there even when YP’s are no longer YP’s.

Official launch of the group will be at our DYP 4 year Anniversary Celebration June 20th at Chopper’s and will mark the 1st day you can sign up for this new group as well.

“Blondes vs Brunettes” benefiting Alzheimer’s

Blondes vs. Brunettes® was created in the fall of 2005 by a group of young professional women in Washington, D.C., led by Sara Abbott. Her sister, Kate Stukenberg, soon grew the game to Texas. The founders had a personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease and designed the event to raise awareness among their peers while also raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Since that inaugural game in Washington D.C., the event has successfully branched out to more than 20 additional cities, raising more than $2 million and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause.

Blondes vs. Brunettes is a volunteer-driven active event for women that that brings the passion and spirit of young community leaders together to support the Alzheimer’s Association. The event concept is organized around a flag football game in which the two participating teams are divided based on the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes.

Denver Young Professionals is a proud partner in this event and we’re working to help the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado expand it with the Colorado Young Professionals Network.

Denver Young Professionals started off as a dream 6 years ago and became a reality with our very first event 4 years ago at the Ninth Door. 100 people attended that first event and we were wondering how could it get any better…..in 6 months we were averaging 300+ per event and inspired over 25 cause, culture, and industry specific YP groups to launch in the greater Denver Metro area alone.

Today we reach over 17,000 YP’s in Denver….making us one of the top YP networking groups in the world. We’ve featured a non-profit at all our Socials since day one, and YP groups as fast as they popped up. We’re excited to continue to empower other YP groups in Denver as well as Colorado.
